Can i delete compress old files ? its talking too much space. Is it safe to delete ? Any problem can come in XP after deleting ?

Iam not sure, however just becasue they are old files may not mean they are un-needed files ? B/4 you delete any of these "old files" I would make sure they are safe to delete ? Perhaps doing a search on "compressing old files in disk cleanup" and if these are needed files ! I would think if they where no longer needed that disk cleanup utility would remove them . vikas28, I'm assuming that you mean the Compressed Files that appear when you open Disk Cleanup. No you can't or shouldn't attempt tp delete those files. Compress Old Files Unlike the other categories, Compress Old Files doesn't delete any files from the drive. It compresses files that Windows hasn't accessed for a specified period of time. The files are still available, but there will be a slight increase in access times because the files will be decompressed the next time they are accessed. Note that when Compress Old Files is highlighted an Options button appears. Clicking it will allow you to set the number of days to wait before an unaccessed file is compressed.
