Can I delete the folder I386 that is found in the windows folder? It contains about 400mb of files that all end with the extension (.xx_).As well, one of the files in the folder had a bug in it (see message XP Crashes during Virus scan) which I have since dealt with.
I don't want to damage any important system files -- please advise me wether deleting this folder is possible
Thanks!

I really doubt if it will let you. And if I were I wouldnt even try. That folder is the emergency Windows backup folder. Most of your critical files are stored there for possible emergencies. At least thats what i was told. So I wouldn't

Try running cleanmgr.exe
go to Start >> Run... >> type "cleanmgr.exe" or "cleanmgr" no " "
That may give you some space
I know this works for XP pro but if you have the file in XP Home edition it will work.
Go to C:\Window\inf\sysoc.inf
Make a Copy of the file first. So u have a backup!! Edit the sysoc.inf file. Delete ONLY all the HIDE or hide .
Keep every thing like the ,,Go to Start >> Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs >> Add/Remove Windows Components.
This will let you uninstall some windows program you don't use or didn't see like the internet games, MSN Explorer, est...
