Dear Friends,
I just have a question and that is whether it is possible to create bootable CD from a Bootable Floopy.
Well, in my computer there is no Floppy Driver. But, sometimes I do need floppies (such as intalling third party raid softwares). True to say I hate Floppy disks. So, if those can be CD's then it'd be better for me.
So, is it possible to create a bootable CD from that Floppy disk?
If that is possible then I hope somebody will help me out. Thanks in advance :)

The answer is, "it depends on what you are using for 'burner' software."
I'm not familiar with each and every brand of software. I use Nero here, and it will make a bootable CD from a floppy. IN FACT this is exactly how I do most of mine. What you end up with, after "burning" is a CD that boots and acts like a floppy (A:) drive, with a second section that "is" the CD. If you are going to have additional data on the CD--in addtition to the original floppy---you must also include CDROM drivers on the floppy so that you can "read" the rest of the CD.
I also use a free CD burner called CDBurnerXP Pro

Also a wealth of info on creating utility CD's is at Barts:http://www.nu2.nu/bootablecd/
There's about 5 tons of information there.

There is another problem with creating the boot CD. It looks like you do not have a floppy drive on the system you are using to burn the CD's. When creating a boot CD the software always asks you to insert the boot floppy into the drive so it can make an image of it for the CD burn process. Without a drive you will not be able to get past this step. The best option in that case would be to spend the $10 and put a drive in your system. Then the program will be able to create the boot image from the floppy and you will be able to finish creating the CD.
Good luck
Richard
