"to do what?"

Let's say melw is online surfing. A call comes in. Should melw disconnect from the internet to find that is was a wrong number calling or would it be better to know that it is his/her spouse calling?

Software for this purpose...Sorry, I am not familiar with any at this time.

I see, but without the software in the first place how would you even know there was an incoming call?

Hi
What I am trying to do is :.. When I am not connected to the Internet & receive a telephone call, then I want to show the incoming telephone number on my PC. Do I need a caller id modem & if so what make, or do I need just software with my current modem & if so which....or do I need both modem & software.
Sorry for the confusion!
