I have cable connection with Optimum online. I connected the modem to the router and router is connected to two pcs( One is Win XP Home and the other is Win 2000 server without domain. I am using workgroup). So basically the two pcs are sharing the internet thru' the router. All of a sudden both the pcs looses connection to the internet and canot ping any remote site but can ping each other. And if i restart the Xp pc sometimes it regains the connection sometimes it wont, i mean it basically luck or i dunno whats goin on.Plzz can anyone help me here?
Thanx,
Cyrus.

Its not splitting the IP properly. What kinda box u using?
might not be programmed properly. doe sit also ahve a printer server on it?

Ha!
I can help you very easily my friend...
here it goes...the next time that your connection dies follow theses steps...Turn off modem ---then--
1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the modem.
2. Unplug the cable connection from the main outlet.
3. Make sure that explorer, messenger, Kazaa, etc are closed.
4. wait about 10 seconds or more its up to you.
5.Connect the cable again.
6. Connect the power cable to your computer again.Turn on modem---
You see, the cable line can't handle a tv and an internet connection for too long. Now with 2 computers its even harder. So you can either tell your cable company to boost the signal to your grid, just tell them that its always up and down, and that u dont have the time to spend on the phone calling them, OR you can buy a cable signal booster from radio shack, its about $20 or so. Place this signal booster box where the cable comes out of the wall. Dont forget to plug the booster box.
