The cabinet files are where xp keeps things like drivers and dll files. It would not pay to mess around with them. They are zipped in a fashion that only the os can open. What about them has peaked your interest? Maybe we can answer that burning question...

I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid...

Well, I downloaded a program which in it contains a folder that is .CAB i wish to unzip this so that i can send bits of that file through email attachments because its too big to send it through hotmail or yahoo so either break it down into 10Mb or find a email browser which allows you to attach a file bigger than 55Mb!

Thanks for your time

Have you tried using YouSendIt.com? I use it all the time for sending large files.

steve,

Not to your problem but, right-click the *.cab, and click explore. Does it open and show you the files, in the right side. If it does, it's just a simple drag and drop, or extract. Well, maybe not that simple. But it sounds simple.

Good luck,

Try using CabExtract to get at the files in the .cab - download it here: http://www.freewareweb.com/cgi-bin/archive.cgi?Category=Compression+%26+Zipping&sb=0&so=descend
