Comment:

i was recently attacked by spyware and trojan and adware .
They totaly blocked my computer.
Now i have used many software to block them.
Now when i open c:\ my blocking software shows that it is going to run amvo.dll
amvo1.dll amvo2.dll lblt87.dll (this one is in temp folder)
amvo.exe
these all files are in system32
i have blocked the above processes .
because i came to know that it was a virus.
then after it opens c:\ in a new explorer.
How can i get back my real c:\ drive.
And one thing more i can't see hidden files
The blocking software i use are avast ,superantispyware, spyware terminator and spybot sd resident.

Don't block spyware and trojans, remove them.

hey if i unbloacked them they will again block my task manager, and administrator policies.
Because in my other account i didn't even thought of blocking them so they took all the administrator policies from it.
Like i tried to open msconfig and task manager.
They all didn't open and showed that u are restricted.

There shouldn't be any need to unblock them first, in order to remove them.

Boot your system into safe mode and scan your system there. When Avast finds a virus look in the dialog window and select schedule boot time scan(blue text).

hi,

when i try to fix the drives, it gives a prompt no changes were made to the system, as no problmes were detected. running scan in safemode will work with NOD 32 also or its only for avast?

Download Spybot 1.5.1. Boot into safe mode with networking and install. Follow the install prompts to update the definitions and immunize your system. Perform a scan and remove all it finds. It may take several different spyware scan engines like Ad-Aware and SuperAntiSpyware to clean your system. Look in the c:\windows\system32 folder and if amvo.exe is there, delete it. You might also have to turn off system restore until your system is clean.

When you boot into normal mode, what is your system doing now? Are you able to access your c: drive? Do you get any warning messages from any of the spyware or anti-virus programs that there is still a problem?

Does it open properly in safe mode? When you say you can't access c: drive is that when you double click my computer? If you could be a bit more specific as to what you are doing that doesn't allow you access.

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_... may provide you a registry fix for this problem.

hi syslock,

No, I cant open properly in safe mode too. I can enter into my computer. But in the next step i cant enter into c and d: drives and gets prompt open with.. on the other hand i can access the data in these drives by using explorer option. Today i went to the computer center in the university to solve this problem. The guy from computer center said its an unsolved problem to many people and it has a problem with registry files. He recommended to reinstall the windows or use it by exlorer option. I couldnt work with the link provided by you, bcz its confusing me. do you have any further suggestions regarding it?

Let's take a look at your policy settings. Click Start then select help and support. Next select use tools to view your computer info under category "pick a task". Under tools, click on advanced system information and then select view group policy settings applied. This tool will check for any system wide policies that may prevent you from opening the drives in my computer. When the tool is finished running, scroll down to the very end and see if any items are listed under registry settings. If there are any listed, this will most likely point to where the setting is and you can then run the RSOP(Resultant set of Policy)tool listed at the bottom of the window and this will display where in group policy any settings have been changed. Take a look at that and post back anything you see listed and we will go from there.

hi syslock,

Thanks a lot for your advices. But i got solved the problem now. I had followed the following commands to solve it, which was given in this forum (last year, found by browsing in google).

Go to command prompt(run->cmd)
write down as follows:
......................
cd\
c:
attrib -h -s -r *.inf
del *.inf

(First i didnt notice the space between r and * in the command so i couldnt solve it)

I had followed the same to other d drive by changing the drive name as D. so that end the story to solve this open with.

thank you very much for your time and support

lblt87.dll (this one is in temp folder)
amvo.exe

hi saurab,

i think u blocked amvo as per ur messages. I think u have to delete them completely first as Sci-Guy said to u. I also deleted them first without blocking, with the help of Nod 32. after that i scanned 5 times and tried to fixe drives as per the recommendtations given in this thread. But they didnt solve the problem. at the end i solved by using the above commands only. so please try to them first.
