Hi,

I hope I can explain this so it makes sense to everyone reading it.

I am on a dial-up operation.

Sometimes when I check my "Bytes Received/Bytes Sent" information after connecting to my ISP it will show both of them fairly equal at around 2500 bytes. Then once I start surfing the bytes 'received' far out distances the bytes 'sent' total very quickly.

But,then, sometimes right after I connect and within a few seconds the Bytes 'Received' surpasses those 'Sent' by several thousand bytes.

I guess what I am asking is why sometimes after connecting they are both fairly even to start with for a few seconds and on other ocassions the 'received' bytes jumps right out to an overwhelming lead at the start?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks and regards,

Phil

The bytes received will quickly increase because you are downloading information, text, graphics etc.

Just to add one other thing. When you connect to an ISP with a 56kb modem, you may be receiving data at around 56kbs, but you are only sending at 33kbs.

V90 is an asynchronous protocol.
