Burning VCDs

im not sure if this is posted in the right palce but hopefully somebody can help me. im using Nero 5.5 and when i choose to burn a vcd, i put a .avi file under 700mb to burn but sunndely it goes straight to 1000mb and wont burn. is there any way i can get it back down to size? thanks

SVCD is a better format, mpeg2, try that.
are you using nero express or nero rom?

avi's will need to be split first. somewhere around 350mb of avi= to 700 mb of mepg 1.so you will need to split the avi first.you can find a splitter at
http://download.com.com/3120-20-0.html?qt=avi+splitter&tg=dl-2001.

So when its spilt, what shood i do then? burn each part on separate cds?

why you dont try to convert the avi to a mpg, with tmpgenc plus, is the best program to make vcd and svcd then you burn your movie with nero, i sugget you to don't use the nero convertion software included to make mpgs because its not good i use it once and my vcd has not the audio and video sync.
