Burning software freeze [Nero/Adaptec]

I have a ACER CDRW-6206a burner. I have recently installed windows Xp and burning software freezes when i attempt to run it. Nero freezes when it say scaning SCSI/IDE ... and Adaptec at the loading screen. I have tried Force ASPI and also tried downloading windows 2000/Xp ASPI. It still does not work. I am out of idea's. I really have no clue anymore. This doesnt make sence. Windows says that the drive is CD-RW6206A but i believe it is only recognizing it as a normal CD-Rom. Please, any suggestions would be appreiated.

Nero has a patch for this problem, it could work for you! It,s on their site.

I had the same problem. Found it to be an issue with the driver for my IDE controller. Downloaded and upgraded the driver which fixed the problem.

Hi Curt, I got exactly the same trouble with Nero under WinXP as you do (I'm using only Nero). Did you get resolved your problem in the meantime. I suspect that it has something to do with the hardware configuration: I got 2 HD as masters, the CD-ROM as sec.slave and the burner as prim.slave. What about your system configuration?
