Hi guys,

I would like to burn my movie files (avi format) to a DVD-R/RW but I've never done this before so I'm gonna need your help here. Tried it once but it failed:). How is the proper way to burn files to DVD w/ Nero 6.0 Ultra Edition? I thank you all in advance...

j3r3my07,

Before you even get close to Nero... you need to convert your avi file to the proper format....mpeg2....using the proper settings and the proper codec. If this is not done correctly, your attempts will fail. )if you have no idea what I just said ...then get to reading) :)

That site tells you how to do it.

This is probably not as easy as you think. It's not just "click and go". You have to do some reading and research.

And it's not "their" software... if you can't download it from them... do a google search for the program and download it somewhere else.

I've given up on using Nero for authoring DVD's. The best software for this, IMHO, is TMPGEnc DVD Author.

I hear Nero 6 works ok, but I haven't tried yet, since I still don't have my burner (those raid arrays were a bigger priority...).

Have you guys tried it with Nero 6 to no avail?

I agree with converting from AVI to MPEG-2. I would never save any movies in AVI format, since there are too many incompatible versions.

J.
