I recently relocated my cd burner from my parents' computer into my new dell. Although it was working perfectly fine in the other machine, it has a few problems here. Firstly, whenever I burn a cd, my computer is basically rendered useless for any other task. All sounds become terribly stuttered and even minimizing a windows takes 5 - 10 seconds...and is jerky when it finally happens. Also, the cd always seems to burn much more slowly then it should...about 10 min/disc @ 32x.

The other computer is a Sony Vaio with a 1.8 ghz p4 processor and 512mb sdram. This computer is is a Dell with a 2.53 ghz p4 processor and 640mb ddr pc2700 ram.

The drive is the Memorex 48x12x48.

On both machines, I use the same software, Nero 5.5.10.28...the only different seems to be the performance.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I thank you in advance.
