hi
i have a burner with the speed is 24x10x40.
and i use nero program. the fastest speed is 24x and the LOWEST speed is 8x.
i want to burn with the slower speed such as 4x. in the nero program the slowest speed is 8x. how can i put it down to 4x, 2x, 1x,...
i tried easy cd creator and it is same to nero
can anyone help me with this and if it doesnt support and where can i get a driver?

I believe if you put a CD-RW in it will give you the 4x option. Or if you have XP as an OS it has a native Roxio that will go as low as 1x with my yamaha 24x10x40. I use nero and I have the option to go as low as 1x. When you open the new compilation dailog the last tab that says burn. Mine starts at 24x and then16x and keeps going down 4x 2x 1x are also options.Have you updated your nero it is up to 5.59
Good Luck

why did you buy a burner that burns at only the speeds above the speed you desire .2nd
if you burn it at 8x 6x 10x or 12x the only differance between x-speed when burning is chance of a under buffer

LISTEN TO RON HE"S A PERSON OF MUCH WISDOM
everything in reply 3 is on the money .............................

I have an LG 16x10x40 and burn all my CD's at 16X except CD-RW's which burn at 10X and I have yet to have "coaster".
I have burnt over 200 CD's at this stage using CD Creator 4.0 until I loaded WinXP Pro and now I use NTI CD Maker 2000 Pro and still have a 100% burn record.

Nero only lets you choose the lowest speed that the drive can write at. Even if you find a program that will let you write at 1x it will still be writing at 8x. Time it to see for yourself.
I burn everything at 40x (disc copies, audio cds, vcd's, psx backups and other things) and have never had a problem with any device using the cds. Chances are you can use 8x and still be fine.

Yeh, burner problems for me too:( heh..I got it fixed once by doing windows updates, disk defrags, virus scans, taking programs off, but this wasn't long ago....About a week ago and it's already erroring on 11% on each CD i try to burn.. Any suggestions? My sister is using an HP and just the simple HP Record program to burn CDs..I know it's crap, better built manually, but hey, can somebody help me work with what I'm given to work with?
well..thanks

Nobody has asked why this guy want's to burn @ slow speeds. Has he got a problem but is asking the wrong question ?
There should be no real need to throttle back modern burners so if you have got a problem CC do tell us what it is.

billy> nope i had a Plextor burner that burns at 40x and i burned psx games they work fine...i also have a LG 32x with buffer under run pertection...which is excellent and much cheaper than what i paid for my Plextor one..
