can i write an iso image of an audio cd onto my hard drive, then burn that image onto a blank cd-r and have it play on cd-players?

NO need for ISO.
Simply 'copy' the cd across to the HDD and then back to a CD-R [as many times as you want].

SO will roxio. Or windows media player if you copy to a folder first. Don't buy anything. Media player in underestimated. After you put them in a folder, right click on them one at a time and add to playlist. You can then create a New playlist. After sending them all there you can copy them to a CD. Roxio S&*ks.Windows works great. I would suggest using an unformatted CDRW until you get your project right so you aren't making coasters. Media Player will close the session on a CDRW so you can use Roxio to make a disk copy.
