Built in microphone not working

hi i have an acer travelmate 3201xmi and it has a built in microphone as most laptops do these days and i used it quite a bit but when i connected a acer easy port 2 my microphone stoped working, even when my laptop hasn't got it connected the microphone dosn't work. does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it???

Have you checked the volume controls for the microphone?

Try- Control Panel, Sound, Speech, and Audio Devices, then Sound and Audio Devices, then Voice tab, then click "Test Hardware" button. See if that leads anywhere.
