OK I have about $1,500 to build the best system I can possibly build. Can someone out of the kindness of their heart give me a set of components and where to find them online. I prefer P4... and I've got a GeForce4 4600ti lined up already. Think of it as a challenge.... if you don't want to find all the components just list a couple that you think are the best.... and where to find them cheap online!

There is an article at the Extreme Tech website about builing a pc. Some other sites that will give you reviews and how to ideas are Tom's Hardware Guide and Motherboards.Org. When you decide what parts you want Newegg is hard to beat for prices, and more importantly service. They are one of the highest rated companies at ResellerRatings.Com. Take care and all the best!

Don't know where you live: City/ Town, State, Country.

Nonetheless I have sent a full pricelist of components: from CPS to CASES so that you can budget for your purchases.

This went via email

I would also look for a motherboard that you can upgrade in the future. For example: When I bought my motherboard the Athalon 1.4 was the fastest processor for a slot A Athalon processor with a 133FSB. Today, I can still upgrade to the fastest Athalon on the market. But that will soon change and if you are an AMD fan than you might want to wait till they release the next generation Athalon so you can upgrade latter on. Every time Intel makes changes you need another motherboard so upgrades maybe hard to come by for Intel. Just a thought.

I just purchased new comps from newegg.com as follows....

asus p4b533.$118..
...i selected this because it has the 533 front buss, and is great for overclocking. bios adjustments are easy.

p4 2.4b northwood... 184
...the b stands for 533 fbs and 512 cache...
when i put it in the mobo...it only registered for a 1.8 gig...i finally realized that i needed to change the front buss on the mobo from 100 to 133 the p4 2.4 has a multiplier of 18x so at 100 fbs it is a 1.8 but if you move it to 133 fbs it is a 2.4....i have it at 150 fbs now and am running at 2.88..with a stock fan and hs..

also the manual says that it will run pc1600 or pc2100 ....these are stock ..but if you go with the pc2700 and set the mobo to 4:3 cpu to memory ratio you can use 2700 mem...i wish i knew this b4 buying my memory...this will be alot cheaper than rambus memory...by almost 1/2...you can contact me at yet70@yahoo.com...hope this helps...
