Where did you buy this?

Contact the previous owner. Or contact Toshiba with proof of purchase.

A thank you would be nice, if I have helped.

The password in a hard drive is stored in a chip. Not even the manufacturer can help as there is no backdoor password that I know of. Nor is there any software to crack it.

To add to this nightmare, some laptops will make even a new hard drive password protected thus creating not 1 but 2 paper weights. That info is stored in the eeprom.and the pw is created at post. Bummer!

You can try a new hd or get a program like hdd unlock. It will not get the password but will format it and make it usable.....Be aware it is not guaranteed to work 100% of the time as it can make a hd toast.

As stated above....the previous owner if known is the best answer.

No, you can send it back to Toshiba and for a fee they can fix it.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
