Comment:

Often while playing a game called Raven Shield, and sometimes while doing other cpu/memory intensive activities, I get a BSOD. As the title says, I get a Bad Pool Caller error.

The only USB device I have plugged in at the moment is a Logitech MX 510 mouse. The only significant hardware/software change I know of around the time I started getting the BSODs was changing my primary sound source to my old SB Live Xgamer instead of using onboard sound as my primary.

I saw another post from almost a year ago with a similar problem. Minidumps were requested in order to check out the problem. I've uploaded mine to http://www.guardfather.com/bsod/

Hi,

The culprit is faulty ram. Run memtest to stress the ram.

Your debug report

The bad ram myth again.

It is extremely rare these days for ram to be bad unless it has been damaged by something external to it, such as a failing power supply, or a voltage spike or surge to the computer.
If he wasn't having problems previously before he got the game, it isn't the ram.

However, having ram that isn't 100% compatible with your mboard is common, particularly if you added ram that hadn't been used in the mboard before, particularily if the mboard is older, the ram is new or a lot newer than the mboard. If you install incompatible ram, it WILL fail memory tests, but it is not bad - it is just not meant to be used in that mboard.
....

You could try searching the web site of the maker of the game for information about the error, or seeeing if there are patches available for the game there, or the maker of the video card for information about the error, or loading the latest drivers for your video, but games are prone to these kinds of errors, and not all games work properly on all systems in any case.

If it is only the game you problems with, your system may be one of the ones that just can't get along 100% with it - that is common.

If you have blue screen problems other than with this game, it is often difficult or impossible to find out what the errors mean.If you want to try things to get rid of them, see my post(s) in this:
