Hi All, pc has been running really stable then I decided to do all windows update downloaded 16 installed them all and now all i get is BSOD. What ever mode i try I just get BSOD safe mode, last known good config etc. Is there a way i can boot to dos and delete and files to get rid of those damned windows updates. Also i tried an inplace upgrade but it does not give me the r option on the install screen but it does say there is another OS detected on the drive. Checked out the drive with powermax software and its good. Cant format the drive as its got loads of college work on it. Any ideas ?

Boot to Safe Mode and uninstall the most recent update, working backwards until you are able to boot normally.

Do not use dos to manually delete files!! The update files are not only installed on your HDD but they are also installed into your registry. Unless you can find the install log file in dos and manually reverse it exactlty as it was updated, you will only make a bigger mess. I would do as JENNIFER says.
One other thing,I am not a big believer in XP restore, but if you have it on, then it usually creates a restore point before an update takes place... you could try a restore.
