BSOD after repair using XP CD

March 5, 2012 at 16:43:08
Specs: Windows XP Pro, Core 2 Duo / 4GB
Performed OS repair using XP Pro CD. Restart generated BSOD with the following notation:

STOP: 0x0000007E (0xc0000005, 0xBA6AD1B3, 0xF789E528, 0xF789E224)
KSecDD.sys - Address BA6AD1B3 base at BA698000 DateStamp 4802518c

Looks like KSecDD.sys has a problem. Cannot reboot in safe mode. Tried CD Recovery Console with no luck. Uninstalled KB977165-v2 with no change in reboot results.

Tap F8 while booting and see if you can get it to start in Safe Mode.

If so type sfc /scannow in the Run box, let it run through and see if it helps.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Couldn't really find any help on that site. Thanks for the link though.

The computer will not start in Safe Mode or regular mode. It leaves the same BSOD message. I have Hiren's Boot CD, and can start MiniXP there. I can then see my C:\ drive and its contents, but not sure where to go from there.
I'm thinking that I should uninstall the XP repair installation I performed that started all this grief. I think that KSecDD.sys is somehow messed-up based on the message in my original plea for assistance at the top of this thread.
I have restored the computer to the date before the problem appeared, still same results, BSOD.
