i did a system restore and then my computer shut off, I rebooted it and now a message came up saying BROWSEUI.dll was not found and to re-install it, but I dont even know what it is and when i go to the page where it shows the programs on your computer(internet explorer, AOL, etc) it doesn't show anything except the mouse and computer name(emachines). Is there any way to fix this? And what is BROWSEUI.dll?

Had you installed IE7 prior to the System Restore?
You can download the missing .dll from here;
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/d...It's a good day when you learn something

As Dan implied this is a file that gets updated with IE. It is also often the subject of IE security updates.
It is therefore important to get the right version. If you are using IE7 then let me know your exact IE version (IE7/Help/About) and if it is the same as mine I can send the correct version file. It would also be helpful if you tell me the version number of browselc.dll because the two often go together.

IE7? What's that? I'm not very good on computer terms. And the computer doesn't show any programs at all, i'm actually typing all this on my daughter's Nintendo Wii's internet.
Nothing comes up so i cant get to the internet and download anything.

Sorry, I'd overlooked the fact that your machine is crippled.
Simplest way forward then is to follow Dan's link #1 to start with. If necessary we can then help you to put that file back in place. Even a slightly older version (which I suspect it is) will be better than none at all.
If this gets the machine working then you can go to Internet Explorer (IE) and get the version info from Help/About and then we can see if you need some other version file or not. Maybe getting the latest IE update from MS will update that file anyhow.
As you are on XP I expect you are using some version of Internet Explorer 7 (ie IE7). It may or may not be the latest one right now.

but the start or nothing comes up so i cant get to the internet, and i can install the file using the Wii, so...?

Have both machines got floppy drives?
If so the idea is to download the file onto a floppy then transfer it to the dud XP machine.
On the dud machine can you get to Safe Mode (tap F8 key whilst booting)?
DerekW

but start doesnt come up on my computer or anything else so i cant go the internet, and i cant download the file using the Wii. So i'm stuck.us

Well, I guess you could get a friend to download the file onto a floppy but the situation on your XP seems to be the real stumbling block.
Can you confirm that you tried powering off, then powering on and tapping F8 key continuously to try to get to the startup menu?
DerekW

I've fixed it, tapping the F8 key like you said Derek. And sorry for posting so many times, its just that the message wasnt showing up on the Wii.

Err...when you say "you fixed it" is the machine now OK, because doing that would have only got you to the startup menu?
Maybe you replaced the file?
