Browsers will not connect to the net

October 12, 2010 at 09:03:42
Specs: Windows XP SP3, dual 1.6 with 4Gb Ram
Running Win XP, IE 8 and Firefox as a back-up.
Deleted temp files and junk like I do every week.
Scanned using AVAST and found a trojan...gone now.

Laptop is connected to the net. Other computers on the home network all work fine. The browsers open, but will not connect...or can not see the internet. I've checked the security in IE8 to make sure that IE and Mozilla are not blocked or excluded for any reason. Everything else works fine.....

Two issues. One is dns. Try nslookup for or some web address.

Also see the browser network settings.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?

Okay.... I got IE working, but not Firefox.
For IE, it was the 'proxy' setting that did the trick.

For Firefox, all I get is the 'Firefox crashed and we'll try to fix it' Box...but it doesn't reload on startup.... Guess i'll un-install it and re-install it to see if that works.

Thanks to everyone who responded...
