Browser Helper Object (BHO)

----------------------

I am concerned about Spyware, particularly the possibility of 'keystoke logger' getting on my computer. I am considering installing a BHO program to help prevent such an occurrence. Following are two such programs, suggested by a friend:

Here is the location of a good utility for controlling BHO objects and also a very good registry cleaner. Of course, the price is right! FREE!

Here is the utility I was thinking of for monitoring and handling BHO's.
It of course, FREE.

I would appreciate comments from anyone who might have used either of the above programs, or a recommendation of another one. Do you think I even need to install such a program at all? I do run Spybot S & D, but not sure if that is enough. Thanks for your help....Jim

Hi Jim,

The best BHOList I know of is by MS-MVP-TonyK.

It fetches the list of currently known BHOs (Browser Helper Objects) and allows you to search it. You can also filter the list to show all known BHOs that are installed in your browser.

Each BHO entry is noted as Safe or Legitimate (at the descretion of the author). Useful tool for advanced users.

Get your copy from this link BHOList

Hi Jim XpUser, hello everyone

The first program is not free, it has a 15 day trial period.

For the BHO's I prefer hijackthis using the BHOList in the link provided by XpUser.

Best Regards,
Mesich

Hi XpUser,

Appears they are back online now.

Just read their newletter and one article says that CWShredder is being no longer going to be updated while Merijn Bellekom continues his studies for a Masters Degree. :-(

Best Regards,
Mesich
