broadband modem keeps going on&off

my broadband modem keeps knocking me off line and automatically re-connects, it may do this 5-6 times and just about every time i log on i have shut down, unplugged the modem and waited 30 sec+ then plug back in and log on, still disconnects when it wants to

Is there a reset button? some have them some don't. But I think that i would send it back to the ISP for a new one. If it is yours...well you just may need to go get another one. There is not a lot you can do with a cable modem. One other thing maybe that the filter from the cable company has gone bad and you are getting a trashy signal.

This happened to me with a 2wire except it would do it every 5-10 minutes (I thought it was my wireless but it was the actual modem rebooting). I got a new modem. It would also probably be helpful if you post the brand and model.

if you're using ur bband modem via USB connection i wld suggest u try using ethernet card instead. it solves mine and all my peers' similiar problem.
