You've bought a second-hand computer, which has had the hard drive either wiped (no OS) or completely removed.

You can check in the bios, to see if a hard drive is present.

If so, all you need is a Windows XP install disk.

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

Look to make sure that the Windows sticker is still attached to the computer that gives you the version of windows that was installed and the key code to activate it. If you have this, you will not need to pay for a full edition of your operating system, just a generic install disk of the same version (preferably at least SP2 if XP). which will cost you much less.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I did a clean reinstallation of window xp but now my ethernet controller is not working. I cannot connect to the internet. Any suggestion?
