I recently had the KLEX.H worm which, for those of you who don't know, changes registry info on things like antivirus programs and your trusty task manager so that they won't open. To fix task manager, several people suggested to me either to repair windows or just to reinstall over top of my existing XP. Well, for whatever reason, it wouldn't let me repair. So I tried to reinstall (without first removing the old XP), but for some reason, after about 3 minutes into the install, the computer just reboots. It does that every time. I tried taking the disc out to just load the old XP, but I'm stuck in this loop of reentering the setup, realizing the XP disc isn't in the drive, Fatal Error, and restarting. F8 does something weird for XP, so I can't boot up in safe mode and bypass the setup altogether. Very frustrating and in need of guidance. Thanks.

Go for the DOCTOR. Time to format the Hard Drive and get rid of any files that cause potential problems.
Bootup from a STARTUP floppy and at the command prompt type in 'FORMAT /U'.
This will also get rid of all the hidden files and temporary virtual disk that XP has setup during the install process.
Then reboot and go for a full install.
