Can anyone give me some clues on how to work BootVis? I am a total idiot on this subject. Did not even know there was such a thing as this till last week. Does it actually help your boot time or is it more of a diagnostic tool???
Thanks so much for all of your help. This forum has been a great tool for me in getting used to XP from 98!!!

Just open BootVis, do a "Trace = Next boot + driver delays", reboot and pick "Optimize". It will lay your files out on the disk for a faster boot.

BOOT VIS can be a TOOL or OPTIMIZER for your OS and HD. For me, and many others it has helped tremendously. Seems after 3-4 boots and then the boot time decreased to about 40 seconds. It can be downloaded FREE from Microsoft. Follow what Randaroo said as per instructions.
