The other day I got the itch to try Ubuntu, I found a program called Wubi
which will insall Ubuntu (Linux based OS) right through windows, no partitioning etc involved. The install of Wubi was fine, when Grub loaded (I guess this is installed by ubuntu to choose which OS will boot) I choose Ubuntu so I can test it out and the screen goes funky. I restart and I get the boot.ini file is missing! Last know config and safe mode does not work and windows repair cd reapir function also does not work. The computer keeps restarting when we use the cd. I have no idea where to turn at this point, any ideas?

If you can get to the windows recovery console, try fixmbr
"windows repair cd reapir function also does not work"
If you can't get the pc to boot from windows cd, this is nothing to do with wubi or ubuntu, that sounds like a problem with the cd itself or the cd/dvd drive.
If you want to try ubuntu again try a live cd to make sure your hardware is compatible.

Just quote myself,
"If you can't get the pc to boot from windows cd, this is nothing to do with wubi or ubuntu, that sounds like a problem with the cd itself or the cd/dvd drive"Not so sure about this, try getting hold of a bootable cd, like Hirens, ubcd4win or knoppix, perhaps you could then fixmbr.

I got the same problem than you. I also tried fixmbr but nothing. So, what I did is use the xp cd recovery option to do:
chkdsk /r
It worked just fine. Then, I removed the f---ing Wubi from my computer and I hope somebody remove that s--- from the internet... is causing many problems to people like you and me.
