i would look on the Windows 98 os drive and look in the boot.ini and copy something that says: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
copy that (it should say Windows 98 not XP) over to your Windows XP boot.ini
now depending on what drive you have booting up i don't know if you have the 98 or XP loading first, but whatever you have loading first you need to copy the other ones boot.ini entry that looks like the above one. let me know if you get this to work. you can reach me at element1eros@shaw.ca good luck

You will have to change part of the boot.ini to correspond to which disk and partition your second operating system resides on. example RDisk(0) relates to the actual physical disk... (0) being your first H/D, if your second operating system is on a second H/D then this should be changed to (1) Also your partition(1) may also need to be changed...depending on which partition your second operating system resides.
Summary: This is what my boot file currently looks like.: [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft...
Summary: This is an interesting little situation - and not all that difficult to resolve. My post may be a a little academic...; but it does help to explain the what/why/how of it all and may be useful to know...
Summary: it's like this; there is not a boot.ini for every OS in the bootloader. what you should do, is edit the boot.ini in c:\winnt. just remove the old entry! simple as that! or, you go to "system" (control...
