Hi, I am trying to get my system up and running, Using Abit BE6 II with Built in Htp66 Umda Ports. I have everything working great, did the install on the regular Ide ports loaded the Htp66 drivers (winxp/2000)from abit tech. And all is fine, but when I shut down and change my HD to the Htp66 ports and restart, it loads through the begining, The drive is reconized in The BLUE highpoint htp66 Page at start up and just stays at "verifying DMI pool" with a blinking cursor, and wont go in to XP! So im guessing Its not booting from th Htp66 port, If i put the HD back on the Ide port it works. If I plug another HD on to the Htp66 it is reconized in WinXP, So I know the Htp66 Ports are working Fine. I have tried every boot up option in the Bios and can not figure this out, I am pulling my hair out and have spent many hours trying to get this to work, any solution would be very welcome!
Happy Holidays, Tommy

Tommy,
I had this happen on the HPT370. I solved it by booting to the XP CD, pressing F6 and loading the Highpoint driver, and then going into the XP recovery console. You'll see the recovery console as an option. Once you're in the recovery console you can run the FIXBOOT command to repair the install. Good Luck.

PS: XP didn't run very well on the HPT370, even with the latest BIOS and driver. I'm now running on a Promise ATA100 RAID controller and it's flawless.

Aight well I finally found how to get the HPT366 working by help of this forum with XP. XP recognizes it when running off standard IDE on my BE6-II. I tried the setup thing, but it just keeps looking for the hard drive when connected to the ATA66 controller. This is after I used the 1.28beta drivers during the XP boot CD process. But these same drivers worked inside XP. Its the screen right before the Recovery Console option (I've been thorough so many XP installs, I know the thing by heart, lol). The HDD LED lights for a few seconds then off, then on then off, then on...you get the picture.

i have a very similar problem. i have an abit vh6t that uses a via ata 100 primary ide channel. i get the blinking cursor after the "verifying dmi pool" too when the 60GB Maxtor is connected to the primary channel. in the post it also detects "LAXTNR" instead of "MAXTOR" in the primary channel. if i change it to the regular secondary channel, it detects and boots xp fine. i've changed the driver from the via published driver, to the microsoft driver, and to the standard dual channed ide driver. the bloody first channel wont boot from the hard drive. if i connect a cdrom drive to it, xp will detect a "CDRNM" instead of "CDROM" and xp cant read any of the "bad media" on the disc in the cdrom.
the spelling errors of the drives in the post concern me. anyone know why they are misspelled?
i have searched for the .inf for the controller so i could F6 in the installation, but can't find it.
i have the 80 conductor wire.
i have a severe migraine from this problem.
please help,
thanks

paulo ive had this happen with cd drives etc when the jumpers arent correct on the back. Check your hard drive and make sure the jumper is set to master or primary
