I have a Sony Vaio Laptop.

I'd like to get it to startup from a Cd or memory stick as the CD drive is broken.

Can anyone tell me the key command to get it to do this.

I went into the bios, but couldn't find the option to boot from an external drive. Only floppy, HD, CD or Network.

With my Dell using Vista, I can choose to boot from a memory stick or other external drive.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

"'d like to get it to startup from a Cd or memory stick as the CD drive is broken." Why do you want it to boot from a CD if the drive is broken?

Why do you want to boot from an external device in the first place? :)

I suggest that you byte the bullet and replace the Broken CD drive with a DVD-RW drive.

If the CD drive is broken, then you won't be able to boot from it.

So, I ask again. Why do you want to boot to an external device?

Hello

I'd like to wipe the HD completely, with something like DBAN, and I think I need to boot from a CD or memory stick to do this.

But if you can suggest another way, please let me know.

Thanks
