I have an acer lappy with two 55GB partitions and want XP on the second however i cant boot from the XP cd to run the install

i set the boot order in the bios and tried pressing keys to boot from cd but no dice, have also tried 3 diffeerent XP cds but none let me boot from them.

My Acer restore cd however boots fine, now call me nuts but is vista protecting itself by detecting an attempt to install another OS and killing the boot routine??

.. at any rate

That boot sequence takes place outside of Windows (even Vista) so that would be... no

I'm not one of those who think Bill Gates is the devil. I simply suspect that if Microsoft ever met up with the devil, it wouldn't need an interpreter.

Are you watching the screen closely when trying to boot from the CD? XP CDs require you to hit a keyboard key to boot from it. You only have a couple of seconds, and if you don't hit a key quickly enough, it boots from the hard drive.

may have something to do with acer recovery patition. My emachine will boot the XP cd til the cows come home but acer will not.
They dont want XP on it once you have vista. something in BIOS prevents XP FROM LOADING but only XP
