My computer has a problem starting up. "NTLDR is missing. Press ctrl+alt+dlt to restart" Now, this is not really a problem as all I want to do is reinstall the OS. Trouble is whenever I start my computer up it will not read the disk. CDROM is the first thing in the bios.. I don't know what to do.. How can I just get it to read the disk so I can install the OS?

f2 is the key that lets me enter the bios.. I can't see anything in there to help me start from the cd..

I start the computer with the cd in the dirve, and it lights up as if to read it but then end up not reading it..

this cd is in perfect condition and I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the cd drive.

I don't see any other options. It seems that it has to be a problem with either the CD or the drive. A bad cable is a possibility, but very unlikely.

Do yourself a favor BACKUP!

Maybe it's the cd but I don't see how that's possible at all.. I just used it like a few weeks ago and it has no visible scratches. And the drive was working earlier today.

When you say "it's the first thing in the BIOS" does that mean in the list of devices or in the boot sequence.

It has to be set as the first boot device otherwise it won't boot.
