You can use a boot/startup disk,by the way what filesystem are you using FAT32 or NTFS?

Depends on what you mean by DOS, if you mean a command prompt, then yes, a boot disk from www.bootdisk.com will do the trick, but if you're hoping to find true DOS on an Xp machine you're out of luck, it doesn't exist..............

Yet again there is no M$-DOS in XP, it should be stated it is an emulation of M$-DOS version 8 (ME).

Press F8 before windows loads and choose the boot to command prompt option if you are only looking for the command prompt. If you are looking for legitimate DOS, you need a dos boot disk or start up disk.
