Oks from the start, I turn on my computer it goes thru bios then to boot screen and boots perfectly fine, I shut down come back later turn on computer goes thru bios, goes to boot screen and stays there come back half hour later its still hung up on boot screen,I have to shut down computer manualy from the start button, when it restarts it goes to thru the sorry window encountered a problem blah blah blah if I click start window normally it goes right back to the same problem above, if I click start windows from last known good working config (when windows worked) it restarts and boots up just fine, I can not boot in safe mode Ive tried, it loads up all the drivers and such for safe mode but then hangs right there at that page in the black and white screen will NOT go any further you have to manually restart the computer and click the last known good starting point, I haven't a clue why this just started happening, I have spyware doctor, AdawareSE-Plus, and Registry mec 5.0 and Norton Antivirus 2006
ran them all came up nothing so I tend to believe its not spyware or a virus, I did put in the windows boot up disc and ran the repair, did the /bootcfg and boot/default thingies restarted the computer right after that and it started fine, however the next day I started it and it went right back to the same thing hanging at the boot up screen (where the dots keep going across the screen) There is only one thing that I can think of dont know if it could have done the problem but thought I better mention it, I have diskeeper 9.0 at one time a while back I ran the boot defrag on start up but Ive done this before with no problems ever like this so.... Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks a bunch!! bskeef

Have you attempted to restore the unit? Can it boot into safe mode when you aren't encountering this issue?

Win if you can, lose if you must, but always always cheat..

When you start in safe mode make sure you enable boot logging and examine the boot log file (ntbtlog.txt - you can find it here C:\Windows\ntbtlog.txt). I know you cannot get into safe mode but the log file might still be there when you get to windows by "last known good configuration). This might give you the answer to what is locking up the system. If you cannot get to the log file have a look at the event viewer - start-settings-control panel-administrative tools-system tools-event viewer. There will be a list of problems windows had to overcome to get where it is. I suggest you also start msconfig from a run command and check the box "diagnostic start up" and see what is reported.
