I tried to run the recovery console using a windows XP pro cd, but when at text mode screen the files that windwos needs to load will not load entirely. could that be bad ram? bad DVD drive? Sounds like the system is indeed booting, since it gets you to a point where you see an error. Did you run a chkdsk? Try that first. If that's okay, then try a Repair install of XP.

can't safe mode, and as I forementioned in the previous post, when I insert the windows xp pro cd into the dvd drive, It loads up the disk, text mode appears, however, when its loading the windows files, it freezes, therefore I can't get to part where it says press r to enter recovery console so that I can run chkdsk.
I was thinking maybe there's a ram or dvd drive problem. And also, since the machine won't fully load the disk it's impossible right now to run the repair. any thoughts?
