I have three hard drives, and on each of them was a different install of windows, and I had used it for months with no troubles.
The main install I used was the WinXP, but I had 2000 and 98 installed just as backups.
But recently after a software install and system restart, I recieved the error "Boot.ini is corrupt." So I loaded up the System Recovery Console through my XP disk, and used bootcfg /rebuild to repair the config.
But much to my surprise, my install of WinXP was not on there. I had it scan all my drives for installs of Windows, but my main install no longer shows up, while the other two do.
So I booted up one of my other windows installs, and much to my surprise, everything is intact. All of the drives are in good health and are not corrupted, and the Windows XP install which it would not allow me to add still exists.
Is there any kind of 3rd party software which I can use to scan for windows installs and have them added to the boot.ini? If not, what steps would I need to take to manually modify the boot.ini to see if I could add the information for my missing Windows install myself?
