Alright, here's the deal guys. I got my boot screen to start working again, but sometimes, I turn on my computer, the boot screen either shows or doesn't. When it doesn't show, I will have to keep on restarting my computer until it shows. What's the problem here?

if you want help you will need to provide some information on the sys. You have given use nothing to work with.
how many hdd's ? how many partitions on each hdd ? are you duel booting ? What boot screen, every one does not call all boot screens the same , and it depends some on the above questions. What have you done to fix "I got my boot screen to start working again, but sometimes" ? does it give a error message or just a blank screen ? When you do not get the boot screen does the comp power up ? Have you added or removed any hardware or software? I'm sure other questions need answered.
In other words if you want help give alot more information. We do not yet have the ability to see your comp from here.
Not trying to be rude , you are not the first or last not to give the basic information for a problem :)

Alright, sorry about that.
I'm running on a 3ghz pentium 4 processor with 512 ddr ram. I have one hard drive with two partitions. What do you mean by duel booting? The boot screen that I am talking about is the one in the beginning with the windows xp logo. The original boot screen that comes with the winxp installation CD.
What happened prior to this problem is that the boot screen will not load at all because I changed the ntoskrnl.exe file. So then, my computer wouldn't boot or should I say get into windows. I went through many forums and asked for help and I tried it all. They told me to put in my Windows XP CD and repair the file. So then, I went into recovery console, and it was "suppose" to ask for the admin password. For some strange reason, it didn't and it said path invalid or something similar to that. I also tried to fix it with this cd called Ultimate Boot CD. I was about to replace the files with that CD, but it wouldn't let me because I needed either NTFS or FAT32 HDD, but previously, I converted it to dynamic disk which I shouldn't have done. So then, I decided to take out my harddrive, and put it in my other computer. Browse through windows and put in the original ntoskrnl.exe. So then, I did that, but it still didn't work for some odd reason. So I decided to overwrite system32 with the system32 on my other computer. So I did that and it finally started working.
Sometimes when I boot up my computer, it shows the hdd, cd-rom, etc. but when it's about to go to the boot screen(windows loading screen), it's blank and nothing appears. So then, I wait for a while and I still am not able to get into windows so I restart the computer. I keep restarting it until the boot screen shows. And sometimes when I restart it, it gives me two options; windows xp professional and windows xp professional(original).
Well I think that is enough information for you guys to help me. Thanks in advance!

Will say my knowlege of XP is not great I use 98.
" windows xp professional and windows xp professional(original)" that indicates a duel boot , you have 2 copies of XP on the hdd or maybe a bad boot.ini file . read http://www.winnetmag.com/Article/ArticleID/14722/14722.html

if you edit the boot.ini make a backup first and do a goggle for the boot.ini to see what it should look like."I changed the ntoskrnl.exe file" why and how did you do it , or maybe I do not want to know. :)
I did a goggle for "ntoskrnl.exe" and they all received an error stateing a bad ntoskrnl.exe file.

your boot.ini file says you do "it gives me two options; windows xp professional and windows xp professional(original).", so you need to check both partitions for more than one Windows folder.
I can not tell you for sure on how or what should be in the boot.ini file , as I only use win98.
Do a search with Google.com for "boot.ini" , you should find your answer. Go to below MS site for some infor;
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q289022if you open boot.ini as per MS site you likely see something like this
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Windows xp professional(original)" /fastdetectif you post your boot.ini file I will likely be able to help on what to do.

Yeah, I just checked. In my boot.ini, there was another windows thing. So all I did was remove that line that said multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows xp professional(original)" /fastdetect
I did a search on boot.ini, but none of it really helped me out. I still get the problem where I stated in my first post.

I read you other post where per had you do a system repair. I sespect instead of doing a repair you installed the 2nd XP.
read link below and see if anything will help
http://www.ozzu.com/ftopic24580.htmland for correct method for recover repair.

hope one of the links help :) Your problem is above my knowlege:(

Yeah, I tried it all. None of it worked for me. But thanks anyways! I'll just bring it to a computer place so they can repair it for me.
