Hi, I've just installed StarCraft today, but the graphics got totally screwed. The screen was almost like it was divided into four sections, very distorted. So i uninstalled it and rebooted. Now i see that by boot screen also shows the same symptoms.
Can anyone help me? I am using Windows XP Pro.
If anyone can get me another copy of the boot screen and tell me where it is, thanks.
PS: How do i turn off boot screen?
Thanks

PS: I have already tried System Restore, didnt work, and i do NOT want to reinstall Windows or Repair it as it will take an immensely long time and i will lose all my downloaded windows updates, which take an extremely long time to download.
Thanks

Please someone help!!!
Update:
1. I have tried uninstalling the video card drivers, and rebooted so XP reinstalled them. Same problem.
2. Tried deleting NTOSKRNL.exe (supposed to be boot screen) and it regenerated itself, but the new boot screen doesnt work properly. So, it is NOT driver problem or boot-screen file problem, so what is it? Please someone help, i have always depended on this forum to get me out of messes that i always get myself into (cept this time not my fault).
Thanks....

Update #2:
1. Getting desperate here (i know i should have patience, but to me a messed up boot screen is an extremely annoying problem)
2. Gathered up all courage and downloaded the NVidia Detonator 2000/XP Drivers. Tried the drivers from the NVidia web site since i thought the XP Drivers are bit buggy. Ignored the "driver signing" warning thing (hey, it IS for 2000/XP after all), and rebooted. Greeted with distorted boot-up screen, then few seconds later, normal desktopTranslation: No effect.
I must be doing something wrong here, if you can see it, what is it?
PS: Help!

If its just the boot screen thats messed up I wouldn't worry too much. Its just a little annoying. The boot screen on my aunts laptop looks funny and it has to do with the screens resolution.
Describe how it looks messed up.

I forgot to add this to my previous post. To get rid of the splash screen you need to edit the boot.ini file
Add " /noguiboot" right after "/fastdetect"
Write back if you need help editing the boot.ini file
Hope this helps

Alright, just when i thought i could deal with a distorted boot screen... it disapeared on me. Literally. Now when i start up, it shows a blank black screen instead of a boot screen (distorted or normal). It's as if i put the /noguiboot thing (which i did try once) but i checked boot.ini nothing was after /fastdetect.
Weird. What's going to happen next? No desktop?
I can deal with this....but anyone know how i can get another XP boot screen? I rather have any boot screen than none at all. Thanks.

yes: simply visit www.themexp.org and theyve got about 200 boot screens which have image previews: just boot into safe mode (press f8 repeatedly when u turn ur computer on) and paste the new ntoskrnl.exe in x:\{windows directory}\system32\ over the old one. Reboot and jobs a good un

i had a similar problem, i have two monitors...one is an old ps1 14 inch. it can't support a screen res. of over 640x480 and the boot screen looks messed up. it always used to boot at 640x480, but now it is somehow set at 800x600. my bios defaults to having my pci video card (with the ps1) as the primary monitor, thus the boot screen goes on that one. i need to figure out how to either set the boot screen back to 640x480 or have the boot screen switched to my 19inch on my agp card. i am running xp pro. you can try a program called bootxp to set your boot screen back. let me know if you find out how to change the boot screen resolution...i'd like to take advantage of the new boot screens i found! thanks
