Hhow I can solve this broblem for an old computer? A friend gift that old computer to me, but I can't starting system because "searching for boot record from IDE-0 not found". this computer have a celeron processor by Intel. please I'm DESPERATE!
So either the hard drive is dying, Windows boot files are corrupt or both. You can download seatools for dos iso file and make a bootable cd. You then boot off the cd on startup and run the extended test on the hard drive. If it passes then the hard drive is likely not the problem and you then need to find an XP installation disk and do either a repair of Windows XP or a fresh install of it. A celeron processor is a lower grade intel processor, they have less onchip cache etc. Sometimes gifts aren't as good as they seem. Good luck. Below is the link to seatools for DOS, the iso file is at the bottom.
