Boot Problems, using XP

I recently aquired a new hard drive, 160g maxtor i believe. I installed XP pro as I have done a million times in the past, but for some reason I get a wierd error when it boots. It says there is an nvidia boot error (i'm running an ati graph card if that means anything), then it attempts to do something w/ the mac address and just freezes. I have had zero problems with my onboard lan in the past. I can get the system to boot normally by using the os cd and hiting repair, then pressing the enter key 3 times. It then reboots and goes straight into windows like it should and the onboard lan works fine. It could be a boot sector problem, and if so what's the best way to flash/andor/ fix the problem.

If you have onboard video, remove the ATI and use onboard until you can get the drivers installed for your ATI card. Also, you might need your system install disks (provided by the manufacturer) to get your NIC drivers. Otherwise, you may need toresort to a 1.44MB 3 1/2 floopy disk to transfer the drivers from a computer with internet. Good luck

the drivers are installed fine. The computer is fully functional once i get around the error using the boot cd. I have already installed the ati drivers, and the onboard ethernet works fine once in windows (drivers installed for that also).
