update to the latest bios and now after post I get <windows root>\system32\hal.dll. The file is there but it says that it's corrupt or missing. I've done a windows repair but that didn't help. If you leave the windows cd or the motherboard cd in it will boot and run with no problems. I reinstalled the old bios but did not help.
