Boot from xp cd with new cd/dvd player

Specs: Windows XP
I have an old hp compaq presario 2500 laptop. I have installed a new cd/dvd player and a new harddrive. When I put in a bootable win xp cd it will not boot from cd. It says no os found. I have not diskette or usb. How to install xp on this maskin?

You need to go into the BIOS, change the boot order to cd first.

It could be the boot order as mentioned above, it could also be that you're not seeing the prompt to "Press any key to boot from CD...". If you're not pressing a key, the system will bypass the the CD/DVD drive & move on to the HDD. Also, if you have an SATA HDD, you will need to load the SATA drivers at the very start of the XP intsallation.
