Hi Guys, this is my first post, i have a question about in how to boot a ghost from a partition.
This is the scenario:
I have three 2 partitions in a hard drive, and i want to keep to similar copys of the OS in each, when (for some reason) the first partition need to be restored it will be cloned from partition 2 to partition 1.
Keep in mind that I don't want to restore from an ghost IMAGE, just I want to copy the partition 2 into 1.
I don't want to boot ghost from a floppy, I want this in one of the partition.
The problem is how do I make the norton ghost boot from there?
Any help will be great!
Angel

You can make a Ghost boot diskette or CD or DVD that will allow you to run Ghost from PC DOS and then instruct it to write the 2nd partition to the first.

If you don't boot from C: drive or a floppy I don't see how you can boot at all unless you set up a dual boot.

i want to make a boot partition and dedicate that partition to ghost, the problem is that I don't seem how to boot for the ghost partition

I don't think you can boot from a Ghost image on the hard disk. You can boot from a CD that has a ghost image on it. Invariably CD boot disks have some kind of OS on them, often a cut down version of PC DOS or DR DOS. To boot from the partition with ghost on it you would need something similar on the petition's well.
It could be made to work, but it is complicated and you need to understand the part played in all this by the Master Boot Record as well as the boot sequence for Windows XP.
Even then you would need some kind of dual boot system as mentioned by per or alternatively change the boot drive in the BIOS.
Most modern BIOS allow you to designate the boot drive, but the boot partition must be the first primary partition the drive. In you case that wont work because you are trying to put two bootable partitions on the same drive so a dual boot system is your only option.
Habe a look at BootIT NT. It is good boot manager with a partition manager bult in and a disk imaging system as well.

How if i change the boot.ini file and then add the location of the partition and the ghost boot files?
