Boot freezes after welcome screen fix.

February 5, 2011 at 15:35:45
Specs: Windows XP, 2gb
When booting normally or in safe mode windows freezes after welcome screen loads.
When given option to boot in last working configuration i get bsod from savrt.sys, and windows recovery mode won;t give me access to program files to delete it.

I have not installed anything new on my computer, but did have a virus a week ago Nav said it removed.

I believe it is best, especially after a virus/hacker tool infection [that is all virus's are now is hacker tools loads], you proceed to a repair install of xp.

A repair install will refresh the Os files but leave your data /apps intact. Though my experience says some apps may need to be reinstalled. The repair does put you back to install defaults which means you will need to do all of your updates again.

here is a how to.

finally did the repair, it seemed to reinstall all of windows even asked me for cd key, most programs work (NAV didn;t make it) and all data seems intact, although it said i was upgrading to professional even though i thought i had pro to begin with.

Now only thing i need to fix is an annoying system beep from motherboard whenever i get a pop up.
