I have a Time computers laptop whose reload disks failed. After trying all my puny brain could imagine [lastly a low level format], I am now at the stage where the xp boot floppy returns an error"txtsetup is corrupt or missing, setup cannot continue".error 13.Please, where should this file be and how can I modify it to work. Please help,I have no ideas left.

Are you working purely with floppy disks? or did i take you up wrong? if so there isnt much you can do about those disks as floppies are crap ,but possibly you can get another set from the manufacturer. Please let me know if i am gettign u wrong here.

Does the laptop have an integrated CD Rom drive or external drive? Does your BIOS doesn't support booting from the XP CD? Also, if I might ask, what caused you to require a reinstalltion of XP?

To Clubjunkie:The m/c developed a fault so in accordance with manufactures instructions,I inserted the first of two "Reload" cd's.[cd1 contains a 600meg image file and some programs, including Norton Ghost and Gdisk, cd2 contains a 300meg image file. The first loaded and after about 5 mins came up with"please insert disc 2",then it all froze and wouldn't do anything.Replacement discs were obtained but did the same. There was a hidden partition on the hard drive which prevented another installation of xp.With no ideas left I decided to low level format the drive and [hopefully], start fresh. When I tried the first of six xp boot up floppies [supplied by Microsoft],I get the "txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing, error 13".I then tried to install win98 with a view to upgrading to xp which I've done on my other pc, using a win98boot up floppy, I installed win98.It seems unstable,if I try to open "My Computer", it crashes. Also, I have to disconnect the mains charger and take out the battery for about ten seconds before I can start it again, to do with power management I think. It has a number of drivers missing[I have a driver disk],and the cd drive doesn't work after installation so I can't install any drivers or anything a floppy can't provide.
To pt cruiser:The Laptop has an integrated cd rom drive and no facility to connect an external drive.Having low level formatted it, there is no cd rom driver in place so my only option is to use floppies. My wife got a virus and when the anti virus software quarantined it, she decided to delete the infected file [and possibly more files as well], it's never worked since.Ive bought an external floppy drive because I can't get data into the m/c any other way.
Thanks very much for your interest/help guys, I'm just out of ideas now so anything would be appreciated.
