Boot failure, system halted

I could not boot my Win XP after I added a RAM. The error did not tell me anything except says: Boot failure, system halted. I got a balck screen, not even get into the bios. Please help!
Ouch! ..Uhmm, you might of fried your motherboard or other components in your systems. To check if anything is fried, if you have another computer handy, check your RAM, harddrive on the other system.. Do it one at a time... hopefully, you'll find your error.
Well remove the DRAM you added and see if that helps but also check your cables. It is never easy to knock loose a ribbon cable from the Hard Drive or the IDE port on the motherboard. So do the basics and check your cables, remove the memory you added and see if your system comes back to life.
