Getting error on starting my PC. "Boot Failure. System Halted ". Why? from last 7-8 months my PC was working fine. but this week it was like hell to me.... Help

I can think of four possible causes
1. Motherboard gone. 2. Hard disk gone. 3. Hard disk cables not plugged in properly, check E-IDE cable at both ends, and power supply cable. Also check any slaves drives on the same cable. 4. Hard disk jumper setting incorrect.

i agree with Matt. its one of those things listed but the most likely problem is the hard drive crashed.
people put too much faith in their computers. they always think well its new so it will never crash, but the truth is they crash all the time...new...old or in between. I've even seem them fail right of the box, brand new....
backing up your important files can not be stressed enough...but people always wait until its too late. There still might be a chance of getting your files from the hard drive but you probably need to get a new one.

Keyboard or pointing device errors may also cause this.
Try a different keyboard first.
