boot error (unmountable_boot_value)

Comment:
After a power cycle(circuit breaker was flipped while on) when my computer boots up, i receive an error that claims I have an unmountable_boot_value. It states windows has been shut down to prevent damage to the disk. I have tried to boot up in safe mode but it doesnt work, and i have also tried what the error screen suggests and that doesnt work either.

Try doing a repair install with the XP cd. Choose repair option after the EULA agreement. If it works, you should retain data on the drive. If it won't go, you may have damaged the HD. Next would be to try putting the drive in another machine (as slave) to see if the HD can be accessed. I have had a similar experience with power outage. Good luck.
