| are you sure it has been installed properly? I had a similar problem with a bluetooth dongle and noticed (in device manager) that Windows had recognised it as a "bluetooth radio". This meant I could send/receive data but couldn't access other services and it wouldn't connect in the taskbar. No matter how many times I tried re-installing its software it didn't matter. What I had to do was go into Device Manager, select it and choose UPGRADE driver. Then select the driver that came with it. Only then would windows set it up properly.
